Cawston Press Juices
Cawston Press been making quality pressed apple juice in Berkshire since 1986. Currently stocked in the chiller the range includes six award-winning, beautifully-balanced blends.
Having picked the apples at the peak of their ripeness they promptly press the majority the same day and make sure any left are all pressed within 48 hours. A lot of apples used for juice are held in cold storage until they are needed, this can be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Fruit continues to ripen once you pick it so some apple juice makers choose to pick their fruit early so that it ripens at a slower speed in storage.
Methods of pressing have changed in line with these new storage systems but Cawston continue to press their apples at a gentle pace, pasteurise and then air tight seal them on the day.
They used to use glass bottles which had to be hot filled, which meant we had to heat our juice to a really high temperature but have now moved to tetra packs so as not to affect the quality of the juice.
