Green Revolution Part Deux
The Green Revolution of the 1960s was about hybrid plant genetics, chemical inputs and big grain yields.While it has been heavily critisised, the most well known advocate Norman Bourlag got a Nobel Peace prize in 1970(!) and much effort is going into spreading Green Revolution II. This is based on GM technology often tied to patented chemical inputs and seeds.
While most people are unaware of the background, even less people will know that historic backers the Rockerfeller Foundation, have recently been joined by the Gates Foundation in a new African adventure.
